Vail, Colorado
Contrast is a fundamental element in photography and examples in nature abound. While heading out of Vail on a very bumpy forest road leading into the Gore Range, I had plenty of time to admire my surrounding at the crawling speeds the road demanded. This was a particularly colorful year in Colorado and the tress seemed to glow from within on this particular evening. Once I framed this scene and viewed it through the camera I was immediately hooked, this was the shot I needed to capture!
