I was drawn to this intimate little side canyon to find some ancient petroglyphs carved into the sandstone wall. My focus was interrupted when I walked upon this scene of striking colors highlighting some of my favorite tree species that thrive in the protected canyons of Zion. Perfect stillness graced my friends and I allowing me to set up my cumbersome large format view camera to capture the scene in high resolution without even the flutter of a leaf. Moments like this somehow elicit a whispering tone to conversation as not to disturb what we have been privy to witness.
