Great Sand Dunes NP, Colorado
High atop one of the tallest dunes in North America the Sangre de Christo mountains rise even higher above the horizon. Persistent winds erase any signs of hikers as the lines of the windswept sand lead one’s eye to the hulking mountains beyond. Captured on film just as the last dappling of light faded from the scene, I reversed my steps back to the campground much more quickly than my accent!
