Sometimes getting lost is the best thing to happen to you. That was just the case on a very snowy January day when this image was captured. My wife and I were backcountry skiing in an area we knew little about near Vail, Colorado in the rugged Gore Range. After breaking trail for sometime through impossibly deep powder, we managed to gain a fair amount of elevation. Although, if you asked me to find this spot again I'm not sure I could. Just when we wanted to give up and find the nearest opening to ski down, I found this beautiful natural bench with a nicely undisturbed foreground of picture perfect powder. To the far right of this scene is set of animal tracks that is the only sign of habitation in this "Winter Wonderland".
